What is Quality Control?

Quality control is an important process in many industries. This process is used to ensure that a product or service would meet certain levels of quality or standard. The primary goal of quality control is to provide the customer with a product that exceeds their expectations.

Government agencies as well as industry and commercial bodies protect the interest of the consumers by providing specific standards that the producers and manufacturers must follow. Companies on the other hand, employ professional and well trained quality control engineers and staff to ensure the requirements are met.

Although standards may vary from industry to industry, there are three major characteristics or requirements that most companies follow. This includes reliability, maintainability, and safety. These requirements are often used to measure and test all the components or materials of the product.

Quality control often involves thorough and strict examination and inspection of products and services. They are used to identify the products or services that do not adhere to the specified requirements or standards. Once a problem is identified, the quality control team would pull out the product to prevent it from being sold in the market. There would also be times when the quality control team would advise to temporarily stop the production.
